We believe in education for all.

The Project runs an educational boarding Unit for children with disabilities at Kitazigurukwa Primary School in Rukungiri, funding teachers, support staff, food and all other needs. We also support the education of a number of blind and deaf children at specialist schools who would otherwise not afford to be in school.

Kitazigurukwa Special Needs Unit

Kitazigurukwa Special Needs Unit is linked to a mainstream, diocesan founded and government run Primary School. The Unit currently caters for almost 40 children with a variety of special needs including cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus, mute, downs syndrome and deaf. All children board at the Unit during term time.

The children are in lessons in the mornings and in the afternoons they play and learn basic life skills.

The Unit staff are funded by the Chilli Children Project.

School fees for blind and deaf students

We know that, in a country where education is costly, children with disabilities are at a disadvantage for enrolling in, and completing, school. We are lucky to have a good specialist school for deaf children in Rukungiri, and a special school for blind children in Kabale, a neighbouring district. We identified children who would not otherwise afford the fees without our intervention.

Can you partner with us to continue to bring education to some of the most vulnerable children and young people in Uganda?

We need your help to sponsor the education of 9 deaf children and 4 blind children. Please consider supporting us in this hugely important work. For just 25 pounds a month, you can support a child to attend a specialist boarding school.
